COVID-19 Screening Tests Beginning February 17, 2022 (and every Thursday until June 9, 2022)

34

Arcadia High School recently issued the following announcement.

ACPS have partnered with the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) and LongView International Technology Solutions, Inc (LTS) to provide COVID-19 screening tests for the athletes and staff of Accomack County Public Schools. This testing program is provided at no cost to the parents, students, or staff due to a grant program called ViSSTA.

LTS has provided testing and vaccination services in response to the COVID-19 pandemic across 37 states and is partnered with many school systems, primarily in Georgia, Michigan, New Jersey, and Virginia, to provide testing. They utilize a well-trained team of administrative and medical personnel to perform the short swab known as anterior nares testing in the front part of the nose. Test collection only takes a few seconds in each side of the nose. These PCR test results are available within 48 to 72 hours after collection.

Parents can register their students, review and sign the consent for this program by using the following website or scanning the QR code below with their phone. Accomack County staff may use the same protocol to sign up. This program is strictly voluntary.

Once the student or staff member is registered, they will be in the group to be tested at their school on Thursdays. When results are available, the parent or staff member will receive notification by text and email according to the information provided when they registered. Additionally, if test results are positive, the appropriate school representatives will be notified so they can follow the school protocols to help limit the potential spread of COVID-19.

If a student or staff member does test positive for COVID-19, they should monitor for symptoms and seek the advice of their primary care physician for those symptoms. Students and staff should follow the Accomack County Public School protocols for returning to school or work. A test can remain positive for up to 90 days. Therefore, after a positive test, a student or staff member should not be tested again for 90 days to prevent a second positive result that would cause them to miss work or school unnecessarily. This can be accomplished by withdrawing consent in the same registration portal for that 90-day period.
