Northampton County Education: 1,334 students were enrolled in 2023-24 school year

There were 1,334 students enrolled in Northampton County schools in the 2023-24 school year, 1.8% less than the previous year, according to the Virginia Department of Education.

In terms of gender distribution, the student body in Northampton County comprised 54.5% boys, with girls representing the remaining 45.5%.

Data also showed that Black or African American students made up 41.8% of the student body, the largest percentage in Northampton County schools, followed by white students with 28.5%, 23.6% Hispanic students and 1.1% Asian students.

Northampton High School had the highest enrollment among Northampton County's four schools in the 2023-24 school year, welcoming 420 students.

According to Public School Review, Virginia public schools have an average student-to-teacher ratio of 14:1, slightly better than the national average of 15:1. Minority students, primarily Hispanic and Black, make up 54% of the enrollment, while white students constitute 46%.
