Accomack County Education: Fewer students enrolled in Accomack County Public Schools District in 2023-24 school year

The only school district in Accomack County suffered declining enrollment in the 2023-24 school year, according to the Virginia Department of Education.

There were 4,726 students in Accomack County Public Schools District, less than 0.1% less than the year before.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2023-24 school year, 51.4% of them were male, and 48.6% were female.

The most represented ethnicity among Accomack County Public Schools District students was Black, accounting for 36.8% of the student population.

Accomack County Public Schools District has a main office in Accomac and is the only school district within Accomack County.

According to Public School Review, Virginia public schools saw an average student-to-teacher ratio of approximately 1:14 in the 2023-24 school year, which is better than the national average of 1:15 in public schools.
