After earning his medical degree at Shri B.M. Patil Medical College in India, Dr. Thakur Hameer went on to complete his residency and internship at Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center and a fellowship in nephrology at Jacobi Medical Center, both in the Bronx, New York. Dr. Thakur Hameer is actively involved in nephrology research and his work as a fellow of the American Society of Nephrology and the National Kidney Foundation. He also serves as a panel review member for the American Society of Nephrology.
Dr. Thakur Hameer specializes in kidney disease, its causes and treatments, including chronic kidney disease, hypertension, peritoneal dialysis and hemodialysis. In addition, he has an interest in identifying new biomarkers for diabetic nephropathy to help target treatments and resources for patients at high risk.
