Of the 2,885 people living in Chincoteague in 2020, 54.8 percent (1,581) were women and 45.2 percent (1,304) were men, according to U.S. Census Bureau data obtained by the Eastern Shore Times.

Females 18 and over outnumbered males in the same age group by 88. In the 65 and over age range, there were 589 females and 466 males.
