Join Miss Molly’s Inn Bed & Breakfast for a Champagne Open House & Art Exhibition featuring the works of Wesley Dennis, illustrator of Misty of Chincoteague, and Darcy and Steve Cole from DSC Photography.

Event is open to the community, but for planning purposes, an RSVP is encouraged no later than September 6, to hosts@missmollys-inn.com.

In 1956 Marguerite Henry said that Wesley Dennis’s horse illustrations “saw beyond hide and hair and bone. You could see that he understood and loved animals, that he was trying to capture their spirit, personality, and expression”.

Miss Molly’s is proud to present a display of select reproductions authorized by the Misty of Chincoteague Foundation of works by Wesley Dennis from Marguerite Henry’s beloved Misty of Chincoteague to their Inn where the award winning children’s novel was written in 1946. Join us to celebrate the legacy of Wesley Dennis and Marguerite Henry on Chincoteague and enjoy these charming and vivid images.

Wesley Dennis’s love and understanding of horses revealed the personality, zest and quirks of each horse he drew. The love for Chincoteague’s wild herds drives Darcy and Steve Cole of DSC Photography to spend over 300 days and hike over 2,000 miles each year on Assateague Island resulting in images that capture the wild spirit and stunning beauty of each of Chincoteague’s Ponies and the haunting natural wilderness of Assateague itself in all of its many moods and seasons.

Miss Molly’s has installed a gallery of these incredible gallery wrapped art prints in Miss Molly’s Inn Parlor and Second Floor and are excited to present them to the community at this art exhibition. Darcy and Steve will be present to meet the community, sign their books, and sell their prints this evening. Don’t miss this chance to speak with Darcy and Steve and learn more about their work!

Raffle of a DSC Photography 16×20 print ‘Riptide and Unforgetable’s Filly’ (picture bottom left) will support the Chincoteague Brianna’s Kindness Park. Tickets $5.

Enjoy music on the porch, tours of the inn, and refreshments including charcuterie trays from Poseidon’s Pantry, Miss Molly’s Inn English Afternoon Tea desserts, Champagne and other cool drinks to celebrate our artists.
