Riverside Health System Earns “A” in Patient Safety Performance from The Leapfrog Group

Today, Riverside Health System is proud to announce that Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital (RSMH) and Riverside Walter Reed Hospital (RWRH) have been nationally recognized for earning top safety marks and have each earned an “A” for patient safety performance in the Spring 2022 Hospital Safety Grade Scores by The Leapfrog Group, an independent, national watchdog organization committed to healthcare quality and safety.

The Leapfrog Safety Grade is becoming the gold standard measure of patient safety. Their Safety Grade assigns an “A,” “B,” “C,” “D,” or “F” grade to all general acute care hospitals across the country, using twenty-two national performance measures from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and the Leapfrog Hospital Survey. The Safety Grade represents the hospital’s overall performance in keeping patients safe from preventable harm and medical errors.

“Riverside is extremely proud of our collaborative efforts to earn this accolade. Providing high quality care, treatment and services with compassion and empathy is a top priority for every team member at Riverside facilities. The “A” Safety Grades demonstrate the hard work and dedication that go into making safe care a reality every day,” said Mike Dacey, President and COO of Riverside Health System.

“This tremendous achievement of receiving an ‘A’ Safety Grade is a proud moment for Riverside and a reflection of our commitment to deliver care that consistently supports our mission by ensuring that every patient, resident, and customer receives the best clinical outcomes, highest quality of care, zero harm and exceptional services”, said Terry Sievers, MS, RN, Senior Vice President, Quality for Riverside Health System. “Having received such an acknowledgment highlights the continued improvements Riverside has made over the past few years, leaning on best practices and evidence-based care and treatment to achieve the best outcomes.”

Riverside Regional Medical Center (RRMC) and Riverside Doctors’ Hospital Williamsburg (RDHW) earned a Safety Grade of “B.”
