James N. Belote III/Accomack County Farm Bureau Agricultural Scholarship

The Accomack County Farm Bureau Board of Directors is pleased to announce the James N. Belote III Farm Bureau Agricultural Scholarship for college bound seniors that are residents of Accomack County who are planning careers in agriculture or an agriculturally related field.

Each interested student is required to write an essay of not more than 200 words stating why he or she plans to pursue a career in agriculture, in addition to completing the scholarship application. Also, each student must provide a recommendation from the high school principal or guidance counselor evaluating the student’s achievements, academic and otherwise, particularly any preparation relevant to his or her career choice.

The scholarship award is $2000 for the first year, renewable annually at $2000 per year for an additional three years. A total of $8,000.00 over the duration of four years will be distributed, if the student meets the requirement of the four year college of his or her choice, maintains a suitable scholastic level, and continues to pursue a career in agriculture. If the student has chosen a two-year program, then the award will be renewable for only one year at $2,000 per year totaling $4,000.

The award is granted by the Accomack County Farm Bureau Board of Directors to help promote careers in agriculture. It is our hope that the award will enable more Accomack County students to pursue careers that will benefit agriculture.
