Eastern Shore Community College issued the following announcement on Jan. 13

Drummer and jazz staple Jae Sinnett will bring his Jae Sinnett Jazz Trio to the Shore on January 28th as the featured musical entertainment at the Eastern Shore Community College Foundation Oyster Roast. The event will be held inside/outside the Workforce Development Great Hall on campus in Melfa, Virginia from 5pm-9pm.

In his first Shore appearance in many years, Sinnett brings with him a jazz pedigree grown on superstar collaborations, numerous industry awards, and an impressive discography of jazz releases culminating with 2021’s “Altered Egos”. This latest release, as with the many that preceded it, has spent considerable time in the top ten on the jazz album charts.

A former member of the U.S. Navy, Jae Sinnett embarked on music education through Norfolk State University upon exiting the service. His drumming and arranging skills quickly amassed a following through successful recording projects and work with some of the biggest and brightest in the music business. Jae has performed with Branford and Ellis Marsalis, Joe Henderson, Freddie Hubbard, Chuck Mangione, Charlie Byrd, Herb Ellis, and countless others.

Many will also recognize Jae from his commitment and partnership through the years with public radio and television. He has been seen regularly as the face of WHRO fundraisers, and hosts not one, but two popular radio programs on WHRV-FM 89.5, The R&B Chronicles, and Sinnett in Session. The Sinnett in Session jazz radio show is one of the highest fundraising revenue-producing four-hour jazz shows in the country.

Limited tickets remain for this fundraising event that supports student success. Tickets are $60 each and available online at es.vccs.edu. In addition to the Eastern Shore style oyster roast, chowder, BBQ, and local beer and wine will be available. For health and safety, the event is being held indoors and outside (tent) to ensure adequate social distancing, along with masks being required while indoors.
