In-state tuition and fees rose 2.4 percent for 2018-19 at Eastern Shore Community College, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Virginia residents paid $4,800 to attend the two-year public institution this year – $112 more than the $4,688 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 123.5 percent more than residents this year, or $10,728. Their price tag grew 1.1 percent from $10,616 in 2017-18.

About 95 percent of the school’s undergraduate population are Virginia residents. About 1 percent are residents of other states and 1 percent are citizens of other countries.

Data shows 87 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 44 students received grants or scholarships totaling $220,336.

Including all undergraduates (654), 268 students used grants or scholarships totaling $1.1 million.
